Love those views! I have a deep love for the desert. Regular dreaming, self check-ins and planning feel like the way to stay awake and thriving in our adult years. Good job asking the questions Chelsea :) I'm beginning to dream and plan for another adventure after selling this acreage next year. It was a labor of love renovating the house, planting huge flower gardens with a dear friend, planting a few small veggie gardens, planting an 8-acre reconstructed oak savannah, and adopting 3 cats. I have decided art needs to be included in my years going forward and I've started dyeing fabric again. It's time to put my fancy degree from Denmark to use! https://www.instagram.com/colorlitstudio
Thanks for sharing. I enjoy staying in touch. And hey! let me know if you want to do a video chat sometime. hugs to you both.
A movie recommendation when you're ready to think deeply about mortality. Come See Me in the Good Light about the Poet Laureate of Colorado Andrea Gibson and her journey with cancer.
And another recommendation: Perfect Days a delicious movie set in Tokyo about a simple and joyful life.
What is it about the desert, right? Cool that you love it so much.
Ooooh, what's your next adventure?! You've had such a varied life, can't wait to see what's next. And to leave your Tallgrass Prairie for the next person to enjoy it, well done.
Thanks for the movie recs. I'll ping you for a chat, looking forward to it!
The idea of not letting finances dictate your life by learning to live simply is something I have tried to focus on especially over the last few months. It is so empowering but also antithetical to how I was raised and what I have long known. But it is startling when I realize what feels possible when I have control of my time regardless of the amount of money I’m working with.
Good for you moving away from you past conditioning! If you can, find the people (online or in person) who support that lifestyle and respect your choices vs. belittle them.
So many people with tons of money have zero time or mental clarity. Cultivating an "enough" mentality is a superpower! Starting early in your life like you're doing means you're already winning.
These damn reminders about mortality! Thanks for sharing it nonetheless.
By the way, we're enjoying following your time on the Olympic Peninsula. One of our fav places. Perhaps we'll cross paths with you there this summer when we're up there!
Yes to this, Dakota! And your mom sounds like an incredible lady. My dad just turned 83 is currently planning a solo trip to Shenzen, China (after doing Laos and Tokyo in recent years). Inspiring!

That would be fantastic! Please keep us in mind if you're over this way, and we'll get lunch or dinner! Or even do a bike ride.
So true Dakota!!! And inspiring. I've shared with several friends. And.....y'all are in the BEST decade. The 40's...
Glad you enjoyed it!
I dunno, you make one's 80s look awesome too! #goals

Whaaaat, go dad go! Love that.
My mom is indeed one cool lady. Artist, teacher, just bubbling with enthusiasm and affection. I'm a (biased) lucky son. :)
