Yeah, I saw that. Suuuch a bummer for so many people! I heard the consulates processing time dropped from six months to 2-3 weeks because so many people lost their option for citizenship. Sorry you don’t have a path for it anymore!
FWIW, a few different friends have pursued it in Portugal and Spain via residency and it’s quite doable. Germany just made dual-citizenship legal as well!
